The number on this site reaches the person who owns the truck. Describe what you have (a garage, a tenant left-behind, a deck that came down) and you get a straight answer about whether it is a today job or a this-week job. Weekdays, 9 to 6, no phone tree in between.
The quote happens at the property, with the load in front of us, and it is the number you pay. Portland has had enough of the estimate-by-phone that grows once the truck is in the driveway. If the figure does not suit you, say so and nothing has cost you anything.
This is the part that takes the extra hour and the reason the business has the word recycling in its name. Metal, electronics, cardboard, timber and still-usable furniture get routed separately. Martin handles that himself rather than handing the whole load to a transfer station and calling it done.

The sorting run is inside the price, not a green surcharge bolted on afterwards. Labour, the carrying, the truck and the tipping are all in the same figure.

It gets separated. Scrap metal goes to a metals yard, electronics to an e-waste handler, cardboard and clean timber to recycling, and furniture in usable condition to people or organisations who will take it. Only the genuine remainder goes to disposal. Nobody is going to pretend that is a hundred percent diversion, but it is a lot closer than tipping the whole truck.

For anything indoors, yes. Someone has to confirm what goes and what stays. If the load is already in a driveway, a carport or an unlocked garage, we can often handle it while you are at work, provided the price was agreed beforehand.

No, and please do not. Basements, attics, second floors, back gardens and side returns are all part of the job, and the carrying is most of what you are paying for. People throwing their backs out moving boxes the night before is a genuinely common and entirely avoidable thing.
Wet paint, solvents, pool and garden chemicals, and asbestos-containing material, which is licensed abatement work. Almost everything else from a house, garage, garden or small commercial space is fine, including some items other haulers refuse. Ask about anything you are unsure of.
Single items are welcome and get the same treatment as a full load: carried out from wherever they sit, and sorted properly afterwards. A mattress or one dead appliance is a perfectly normal booking, not something to apologise for.
